PEORIA, Ill. – A South Peoria man has been arrested after allegedly threatening Peoria County Animal Protection Services employees with a knife.

Peoria Police says officers responded Tuesday just after 4:30 P.M. to Garden and Ligonier, making contact with the suspect, identified as 54-year-old James Brazee.

PCAPS personnel told police they responded to the area on reports of a malnourished dog, finding five dogs and four puppies during a welfare check.

Police say the dogs reportedly were living in poor conditions, appearing malnourished, infested with fleas, and suffering from sores. They were taken into protective custody.
