ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Police arrested a 16-year-old armed with a 3D-printed, fully automatic handgun on Monday night.

According to Rockford Police, officers with the department's Specialized Community Oriented Policing Enforcement (SCOPE) team stopped a vehicle in the area of Charles Street and 29th Street around 9:35 p.m. on Monday, September 15th.

Authorities said one of the rear seat passengers got out of the car and attempted to run. He was captured after a "brief struggle," police said.

The 3D printed handgun was equipped with a laser light attachment and an extended ammunition magazine. Police said the teen suspect also had extra ammunition.
