CLEVELAND (WJW) – A hearing is scheduled Wednesday for a man accused of killing a Cleveland police officer.

Delawnte Hardy is charged in the death of Cleveland Police officer Jamieson Ritter. Hardy also accused of killing his own grandmother.

Prosecutors are demanding proof that Hardy is being forced to take his medication.

They are asking to view blood tests to confirm the drug is in Hardy’s system.

Police say last July 4th, Hardy shot and killed Officer Ritter. He is also accused of killing his grandmother, Beatrice Porter, in June 2024.

Hardy was ruled incompetent to stand trial and has spent months in a treatment facility to be restored to competency.

The state has one year for Hardy to be restored to competency. If he is not found competent by Oct. 22 he could remain indefinitel
