FRONT ROYAL — Warren County supervisors endorsed a conservation group’s effort on Tuesday to protect more land from development.
The Board of Supervisors voted 4-0 to approve a letter of support for a National Park Service land acquisition opportunity. Chairman Jerome K. “Jay” Butler, Vice Chairman John W. Stanmeyer and supervisors Cheryl L. Cullers and Richard A. Jamieson voted in favor of the request for the letter of support. Stanmeyer participated in the meeting remotely.
The nonprofit Shenandoah National Park Trust — the philanthropic partner of the Shenandoah National Park — intends to donate 233.09 acres of land in Warren County to Shenandoah National Park. The undeveloped parcel lies within the national park boundaries in the South River Magisterial District.
