CLEVELAND, Miss. – The death of Daymar Travian Reed, a 21-year-old black student, has sparked outrage and allegations online after his body was found hanging from a tree on the Delta State University campus.
Police were notified Monday morning about the discovery. The police chief stated it was an isolated incident and emphasized that with the support of state and local law enforcement, there are no active threats to the campus. The university remains a safe environment for students, faculty and staff.
The NCAA and the NAACP have released statements expressing skepticism about the possibility of suicide in Reed’s death. The investigation is ongoing.
