A man was arrested this morning following two shop thefts - but officers discovered he also had something else in his possession that didn't belong to him.

The suspect was detained by West Midlands Police officers in Wednesbury.

He was arrested in connection with two shop thefts from the Friar Park area of the town.

However police also found that he had a cat in his possession that did not belong to him.

The cat has since been taken to Vets 4 Pets in Hill Top, West Bromwich.

Officers have issued an appeal to trace anyone who recognises the cat.
