NORFOLK, Va. — Nearly 200 dogs were rescued from severe neglect on a single property in Giles County, Tennessee, last week, and Norfolk SPCA is helping provide care for some of the animals.
The BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Animal Incident Management team, along with Giles County Animal Shelter and Greater Birmingham Humane Society, has so far removed more than 130 dogs from the property. Many of them are suffering from matted fur, parasites, dental disease, and a lack of veterinary care.
Norfolk SPCA said it is opening its doors to 12 to 15 of the rescued dogs, including some from Giles County Animal Shelter, to make room for more animals still awaiting rescue. The organization said it does not receive any city, state, or federal funding and relies entirely on donations to provide medical ca
