East Lansing — Michigan State is looking for improvement from its defense now that Big Ten play has begun. It’ll start off with one of its biggest opponents of the season.

The Spartans (3-0) will travel to Los Angeles to face Southern California on Saturday (11 p.m./Fox). Led by quarterback Jayden Maiava, the Trojans’ offense is one of the nation’s best, making this a huge test for a maligned unit.
