Summer Village of Ma-Me-O Beach residents and stakeholders will be voting this weekend to either stay as a summer village, or dissolve and become a hamlet within the County of Wetaskiwin.

The vote will be held on Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Ma-Me-O Beach Community Centre from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Results are to be posted that evening as soon as ballots have been counted.

Ma-Me-O Beach, located on the southeast shore of Pigeon Lake, Alta., was founded in 1924 and had a population of 124 as of the 2021 census.

A viability review was initiated in December, 2023, at the request of the Minister of Municipal Affairs.

An infrastructure audit was finalized in April this year and the viability report was completed and distributed last month via mail to all residents and property owners.
