NEBRASKA (KCAU) — This year, Sioux City-area first responders are joining forces to play a game of hockey against Lincoln-area first responders.

The event, dubbed Hometown Heroes Hockey Game, is a fundraiser that pits first responders against each other in a family-friendly game of hockey!

This year, the funds will go toward the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) and Lincoln chapter of the First Responders Foundation. The choice to support MDA comes as a local 6-year-old, Isai Soriano, was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy recently. There is no cure, but treatments can effectively slow the progression of the disease.
