SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — A few rural butcher shops in Siouxland are getting some extra financial help from the state.

Nine small shops throughout Iowa will be awarded innovation grants. Those help cover essential equipment purchases and facility improvements.

So far, more than $350,000 in grant money has been given to shop owners, three of whom are in our area.

The meat locker in Cherokee received $75,000, Tiefenthaler Quality Meats in Holstein was given $45,000, and $25,000 went to Friedrichsen Meat Co
