ASHEVILLE, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Asheville Fire Department reports it is responding to a fire in the scrap yard at Mountain Metals Recycling on Wednesday.

Officials said crews responded around 2 p.m. and that Pond Road is closed between Brevard Road and McIntosh Road.

Crews are working to develop a defensive strategy with assistance from the county tanker task force, according to officials.

Drivers may see smoke from I-26, officials said.
