SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A middle school in San Diego's Chollas View community has broken ground on a new lab facility focused on environmental and climate science education.
During a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, San Diego Unified School District leaders joined students from Millennial Tech Middle (MTM) School and Lincoln High School to mark the beginning of the project.
The middle school is building a new Science, Technology, Engineer, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) Climate Action Design Lab. It is described as an extension to the school's existing Earthlab, an outdoor classroom and living lab.
The new facility will feature two lab rooms, an outdoor atrium and other support spaces, the district stated.
