SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- As remnants of Tropical Storm Mario move off the coast of Baja California, parts of Southern California are preparing for potential heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Earlier this week, the National Weather Service in San Diego warned about heavy rain and the chance of thunderstorms to hit parts of San Diego County Wednesday into Thursday.

On Wednesday, just before 2:15 p.m., NWS added a Marine Weather Statement for people on boats or recreating out on the waters from San Mateo Point down to the U.S.-Mexico border.

The affected area extends 10 to 60 nautical miles out, including San Clemente Island, NWS stated.
