From a pure production standpoint, Jose Iglesias hasn’t had nearly the impact on the Padres as he had on the Mets’ postseason push a year ago.
But he did burn his old employer a bit at Petco Park in late July.
Now he gets his chance to start against the Mets.
With a left-hander on the mound, Iglesias will get his first start at shortstop since Sept. 9 in a 4:10 p.m. start at Citi Field on Padres.TV.
Iglesias’ .569 OPS through 106 games is well below what he did for the Mets last year (.830 OPS in 85 games), but he did go 2-for-8 with a double, walk and three runs scored when the Padres swept the Mets in San Diego.
He scored a run off the bench in the first game, went 2-for-3 in the second and 0-for-4 in the third.
Iglesias went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs while playing third base
