NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WFSB) - The Elm City is cracking down on illegal cannabis sales.
After targeting smoke shops selling weed, New Haven is looking into handing down some hefty fines.
New Haven recently upped its local laws for the dozens of smoke shops in the city to help curb the illegal sale of cannabis.
Often times, these products mimic popular snacks marketed to kids and come in bright packaging.
“I’ve seen them. They’re colorful, normally,” said Yoely, New Haven.
Yoely says she’s glad the Elm City is zeroing in on those illegally selling cannabis products.
“I think it’s going to hurt people’s bodies more. On top of that, if it’s illegal. It shouldn’t be sold,” she said.
New Haven is now considering handing out fines of up to $30,000 a day to anyone caught selling illegal marijua
