TORRINGTON, CT. (WFSB) - School officials in Torrington are considering changing the dress code for teachers.
This comes as the latest in a slew of changes, including the opening of a new middle and high school this year.
The district has also updated the student dress code, prohibiting wearing items like pajamas in school.
“The vast majority of our teachers are already in line with it, the vast majority of the time. It’s not that there is any kind of chronic problem,” said Edward Corey, Co-Chair, Torrington Board of Education.
The school board says there was no recent disciplinary situation that prompted this.
They say they’ve worked with the teachers’ unions on these changes, even compromising to allow staff to wear certain sneakers.
