NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - The City of Nacogdoches has approved a letter of understanding with Union Pacific Railroad as it seeks to purchase land near Monk Street.
The measure grants city officials authorization to conduct due diligence for the possible land purchase.
The land is just under 3 acres located off Main Street between South Fredonia Street and South Church Alley. The city wants to widen the street and add more parking spaces, as well as possible improvements to the Clint Dempsey Soccer Complex.
City officials will now seek lot surveys and submit a draft survey to Union Pacific for their review and approval before the land sale. The city council must also approval the final land purchase.
