SHREVEPORT, La. -- Caddo Parish commissioners are set to vote Thursday afternoon on a proposed $10 million pickleball complex, drawing sharp pushback from residents who call it a bad deal for taxpayers.
Kenny Gordon, a Shreveport resident, said the project wouldn’t benefit most parish residents.
“No. 1, it’s not going to serve everyone in the city. Not going to serve everyone in the parish … only that particular area that’s going to have the pickleball.”
Others criticized the cost. One resident saying, “For the price, because it’s really outrageous.”
John Glover of Shreveport argued taxpayers will be left paying if the facility doesn’t succeed.
“The guarantee will be if you can’t make the payments … the taxpayers get to make that payment," Glover said.
