WATERTOWN TWP. — A 48-year-old woman died Sept. 17 in a chain reaction crash involving at least three semitrailers along Interstate 96 in southern Clinton County, near Lansing.

Deputies with the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the I-96 multi-vehicle crash, near Grand River Avenue, at about 11:46 a.m., according to a release posted on the agency’s Facebook page.

An initial investigation showed that traffic was stopped in the area when an eastbound semitrailer that a 34-year-old Texan was driving rear-ended a passenger vehicle, “starting a chain reaction type crash with two more semi tractor trailers also being struck,” Lt. Dan Spitzley said in the release.
