MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WSAZ) - During Friday’s WVU Board of Governor’s meeting, officials called for a re-examination of campus safety procedures.
The conversation was spurred by last week’s assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on the campus of Utah Valley University.
Additionally, WVU was a recent victim of nationwide swatting hoaxes in which callers falsely reported an active shooter on campus.
WVU Board of Governors Chairman Robert “Rusty” Hutson told WSAZ he is confident in the current procedures, but wants to review them in light of recent events and to reassure the board and campus community that they have good procedures in place.
