It's the end of an era. Six Flags Over Texas says the classic swinging ship ride Conquistador is retiring.

Six Flags Over Texas posted on Facebook on Wednesday, saying the ride featured in the Spain section of the park since 1981 was being removed for "epic opportunities ahead" that will "create new signature adventures for generations to come."

"After exploring multiple options, we have decided that the Conquistador has officially sailed its last voyage," park officials said in a Facebook post. Thank you to all our guests and team members who have shared countless memories aboard this iconic ride."
