During the Piedmont City Council meeting on Tuesday, the Council heard from Byrian Watts, Water, Gas, and Sewer Manager, about the need to upgrade the sewer system along the By Pass. The total project is just over one million dollars. Watts ask the Council to adopt a resolution to commit to the project with $500,000 coming from Appalachian Regional Commission funds and $500,000 coming from a 2026 Development Block Grant with a city match of $115,200. The Council Concurred.

City Clerk Carl Hinton informed the Council the City has received a quote on a new garbage truck at a cost of $307,310. The truck will go into production in 2026 and be delivered in 2027. He said they will be trading in the current garbage truck. The Council approved the purchase.
