Rockford City Market is launching a new event, the Rockford Chili Bowl, on Oct. 18.

The event will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the City Market Pavilion, according to a community announcement. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Carpenter’s Place, a nonprofit that supports people experiencing homelessness in Rockford.

The Rockford Chili Bowl will feature local restaurants, chefs and community members, offering a variety of chili styles. Attendees can vote for a “People’s Choice” award, while a panel will select a “Judges’ Choice.” The event will also include family-friendly activities, college football, music and a festive fall atmosphere.
