West Shore RCMP says it is investigating a report that a child was sexually assaulted by an unknown man when she was at a playground in View Royal.

On Sept. 15 between 5 and 6:30 p.m., the child was at the Eagle View Elementary outdoor playground at 97 Talcott Rd. in View Royal.

She was playing in the yard when an unknown man allegedly approached her, exposed himself, then touched her in a sexual manner.

The child was able to safely leave, and RCMP says she was physically unharmed.

RCMP says the incident was reported to them on Sept. 16, and officers canvassed the area for witnesses and video. As of Wednesday afternoon no similar reports have been received.
