NRL great Sam Thaiday has urged Victor Radley to "go away and work on himself" before signing a deal with another rugby league club.

Radley's career at the Roosters appears to be over after the club on Wednesday advised him to explore his options elsewhere.

It followed the release of explosive text messages between Radley and his former teammate Brandon Smith, who will appear in Southport Magistrates Court on the Gold Coast on Thursday to answer charges of unlawfully supplying a dangerous drug and using or disclosing inside knowledge for betting.

Radley has not been charged by police and is not expected to be, but Smith is accused of facilitating a drug deal for him during a Roosters team golf trip earlier this year.
