BELTON, Texas (KWTX) - An area high school and later Baylor softball star is keeping her roots in Central Texas accepting a job as a softball coach at UMHB in Belton.

Ashlyn Wachtendorf is a 2021 Lorena High School graduate and 2025 Baylor grad.

She had huge success on the field as an outfielder at both places and is thrilled to have been named assistant coach at University of Mary Hardin Baylor.

“I have loved it so far,” Wachtendorf said. “It’s only been a week, but it’s been nothing short of amazing.”

Wachtendorf was a four-year varsity letterman at Lorena. She is a four-time Super Centex player, four-time All-District player and received Newcomer of the Year in 2018. She was also Offensive Player of the Year and All-State Honoree.
