About 200-250 people turned on the evening on Sept. 17 in Hasbrouck Heights to honor conservative activist Charlie Kirk , who was shot and killed Sept. 10 while speaking to students during an event at Utah Valley University.

The 70-minute event at the VFW Post 4591 on Veterans Place in the borough is among countless events held or planned across the country in to honor Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point USA.

Organized by Mike Crispi of America First Republicans, the event featured former Englewood Cliffs Mayor Mario Kranjac and other guests.

The VFW had around 150 seats inside the hall and was standing room only with the back and sides filled with people. There was a concession stand selling MAGA hats and other memorabilia.
