AUSTIN (KXAN) -- More people have been diagnosed with prostate cancer following years of decline.

In a recent annual report from the American Cancer Society, it said that the statistics for prostate cancer is rising after the years of decline. From 2014 through 2021 that rate increased by 3% per year.

According to ACS, it is estimated that there are about 313,780 new prostate cancer cases in the United States in 2025. About 35,770 people die from prostate cancer. It is the second-leading cause of cancer death in men, ACS said.

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. To shed light and educate people about prostate cancer, KXAN's Will DuPree and Avery Travis spoke with Dr. Monica Sridhar, Baylor Scott and White Health Urologist.
