MOHAVE COUNTY, AZ (AZFamily) — A hiker is on the road to recovery after falling down a steep slope in rugged mountain terrain in northwestern Arizona.
Around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office received a call to help an injured 21-year-old man in the Beaver Dam Mountains, near the Utah-Arizona border. The hiker fell 60 feet down a steep and rugged slope, sustaining injuries to his wrist and ankle. Luckily, the man had cell phone service to call for help.
An EMT from Beaver Dam Fire was able to locate the injured hiker. Due to the remote and rugged terrain, a search and rescue team determined that getting the man out would be extremely difficult, so crews opted to use air rescue for additional support.
