The ABC has been barred from attending Donald Trump’s press conference near London this week after a confrontation between the broadcaster’s Americas editor John Lyons in Washington DC over the US President's business dealings.

Downing Street informed the ABC’s London bureau that its accreditation to attend the press conference had been withdrawn due to capacity constraints, with only 15 spots allocated for international media.

Trump was scheduled to have lunch with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the Chequers country retreat on Thursday before the joint press conference.

An ABC spokesperson later confirmed the broadcaster’s exclusion, attributing it to “logistical reasons”.
