SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - The Springfield Police Department teamed up with Burrell Behavioral Health a few years ago to put mental health professionals on the streets, working side-by-side with law enforcement to provide critical mental health resources.
Last year, the partnership received a significant funding boost of nearly $800,000 to expand its s ervices.
“We exist so that no matter if a person is calling 988 or 911 they are getting the mental health support that , they need,” said Rory Munder.
She is one of the co-responders who assists Springfield officers with people who may be suffering from a mental health crisis and need medical assistance rather than a police response.
