Bobby Hill has run out of time to force his way into Collingwood's line-up for its preliminary final against the Brisbane Lions but could still feature for the Magpies this season.
Magpies coach Craig McRae made the call on Hill as his squad continued preparations for Saturday's grand-final qualifier against the Lions at the MCG.
Hill has played just one AFL match — as a substitute — in the last three months due to personal reasons.
The 2023 Norm Smith medallist had ramped up his training in a bid to play during the finals series but so far has fallen short.
