Democratic Illinois Governor JB Pritzker highlighted past comments made by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr criticizing government censorship, after Jimmy Kimmel 's show was suspended over remarks he made about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

In a recent monologue , Kimmel floated that the suspect in the killing of Kirk, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, could be aligned with "the MAGA gang"—President Donald Trump 's political movement—or possibly "one of them."
