College may have other plans, but at the moment only No. 5 will do for Ashbrook football standout Caleb Gordon .
“Originally (in youth football) my number was No. 14, but I made the switch in middle school,” he said.
First wearing the number at W.C. Friday Middle, the number followed Gordon as a freshman at North Gaston. Yet for as much as donning the No. 5 means to him, it means that much more wearing it as an Ashbrook football player.
“It’s definitely special to me because before I got here, the number had been retired,” Gordon said. “So having the ability, having the honor for people to believe in me to wear the number means a lot. I carry it with a passion.”
