The Massachusetts Teachers Association released a statement urging school districts and public colleges and universities to defend educators who've expressed controversial views about political right-wing figure Charlie Kirk following his assasination on Sept. 10 during an event at Utah Valley University.
"The ongoing campaign by extreme-right conservatives to discredit and defund public education has grotesquely exploited the shooting death of Charlie Kirk to launch attacks against people commenting on this public figure’s beliefs and statements," the Sept. 16 statement from MTA reads.
