More than 160,000 people attended this year.

New attractions and entertainment were a hit, an organizer said.

FLETCHER – The North Carolina Mountain State Fair came to a close Sunday, ending its 10-day run of rides, games, arts and crafts, animals and food trucks Sept. 14.

“We are really happy and pleased, both from an attendance standpoint and just overall how the fair ran,” Ellerslie McCue, State Fair marketing and communications manager, told the Times-News Sept. 15.

“As you can imagine, it’s a lot of moving pieces, so it was just a really smooth, beautiful fair,” she said.

This year, 161,059 people entered the fair, 11,709 more than last year, according to a Sept. 15 State Fair news release.
