Missouri, along with more than a dozen other states, has wisely banned cellphones and other electronic devices during the school day. The benefits are already accruing. ("Missouri school cellphone ban: Fewer fights, less anxiety, more 'boredom' for students," Sept. 15.)
Now it's time for everyone else to get on board. Since August 2023 it has been illegal to use a cellphone or other electronic communication device while driving in Missouri, except for some hands-free use. This includes while stopped in traffic or at a light. It's illegal even to hold it in your hand or prop it up on your leg.
If high school students can adapt, so can the rest of us.
