YOLO COUNTY, Calif. —

Northern California cities, including West Sacramento, Davis, and Modesto, are dealing with the closure of Downtown Streets Team, a nonprofit providing essential services to the homeless.

The organization, which has contracts with 16 cities across Northern California, made the announcement in a press release, citing "The current political and financial environment has significantly impacted the organization's ability to continue sustainable programs."

In West Sacramento, that's the Motel Shelter Program, along with a program that allows the unhoused to help with beautification efforts in the city in exchange for food vouchers or gift cards.
