The Department for Work and Pensions is sending a free £985 worth of payments to some households ahead of Christmas. The DWP will administer payments to benefits claimants as the cold weather hits and autumn grows colder.
The DWP is paying Warm Home Discounts on energy bills as well as Winter Fuel Payments and more. The benefits department, which is administering payments ahead of Christmas, is trying to help UK households stay afloat.
The payments and schemes are winter-specific and will be paid out before Christmas. The Household Support Fund is also available as well as Cold Weather Payments and the Christmas Bonus, which has been around since the 1970s.
