The College of Southern Idaho last week sent $635,700 in state funding that the Legislature had already appropriated back to the state, as ordered by Gov. Brad Little.

The governor on Aug. 15 ordered 3% holdbacks, or mid-year budget cuts, on all state agencies with the exception of K-12 public education.

The Division of Financial Management in August revised the state’s revenue forecast downward by $854 million, compared with a previous forecast in January, and projected an $80 million budget deficit.

In an updated budget monitor report released last week, the Legislative Services Office projected the total holdback payments at $86 million.

Before his executive order, Little had asked state agencies this summer to make plans for 2%, 4% and 6% budget cuts.
