A shocking moment caught on camera at a Metra train station in the Chicago area led police to issue a safety message to the community, reminding the public that "catching a train is not worth risking your life."
The video, shared by the Hinsdale Police Department in Illinois on Facebook as part of "Think Train Week," shows a person running on a train platform in front of a train stopped on the tracks.
The person then appears to slide, or crawl, under the train, presumably to get to the other side of the platform.
"Our assumption was that this person was running late for the train and couldn't get on the right side of the tracks, and made the decision to go underneath it," Deputy Chief Tom Lillie said in an interview with NBC Chicago.
