Cheeseburgers are an icon of American comfort food. It’s the kind of meal that satisfies, whether it's dripping with gourmet toppings or simply dressed with ketchup and pickles.

Llucky for us, the dish has its own day of celebration.

Sept. 18 is National Cheeseburger Day and while not an official holiday, it might as well be, given the number of restaurants that jump on board to honor the cheeseburger.
