What to know about the vaccine advisory meeting
The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, or ACIP, is meeting Thursday and Friday to discuss and vote on various vaccine recommendations.
Thursday's session focused on hepatitis B and the measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (MMRV) vaccines. The committee later said it would vote on the hepatitis B vaccine recommendation on Friday instead of Thursday.
The ACIP, which is the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's vaccine recommendations committee, has undergone a total shake-up in recent months, with all new members picked by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
The group is also expected to meet Friday to discuss and vote on COVID-19 vaccines for the upcoming fall respiratory season.
