Police have launched a murder investigation after a Midland man 43-year-old man died in hospital four days after he was assaulted in south London.
Metropolitan Police officers were called to reports of a dispute in Southwark just before 3am on Saturday, September 13.
The dead man, named as Michael Edwards, aged 43 and from Nuneaton, was taken to a central London hospital in a life-threatening condition.
He died yesterday, Wednesday, September 17, police said.
Lewis Macleod, 36, of Hadleigh Road, Sunderland, was charged on Monday with causing grievous bodily harm and actual bodily harm.
He appeared at Croydon Magistrates’ Court and was remanded in custody.
Police said the matter had been referred to the Crown Prosecution Service for the charges to be reviewed.
