A military helicopter crashed near Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state on Wednesday night (September 17), prompting an investigation. The crash occurred around 9 p.m. local time in the Summit Lake area, approximately 15 miles from the base and 10 miles west of Olympia, the state capital.

The Thurston County Sheriff's Office confirmed the incident, stating that deputies were dispatched to the scene after the military lost contact with the helicopter.
