Igenerally agree with Armstrong Williams’ recent column on New York Gov. Kathy Hochul ( “Kathy Hochul’s cowardly endorsement of Mamdani,” Sept. 17), but I take issue with his statement, “The fact is, the radical left has taken over the Democratic Party.”

While the progressive wing of the party, including the Congressional Progressive Caucus, has gained influence on issues such as climate change, health care and student debt, establishment and largely moderate Democrats hold the majority of congressional seats.

Progressives may shape debate, but they do not control the party.

As a well-read commentator, Williams should understand that words matter and facts are important. In using the term “radical left” instead of “progressives,” Williams is letting his bias show through. That’s not a
