[OSKALOOSA, Iowa] — The Oskaloosa School Board voted to dismiss an art teacher after a controversial social media post.
Matthew Kargol was placed on administrative leave following his reaction to the assassination of Charlie Kirk. He posted the words "one Nazi down" on social media.
The Oskaloosa Schools Superintendent said backlash from the post had disrupted the learning environment.
"As a man of faith, it has just disappointed me as a society of how divided we've become," Mike Fisher, Oskaloosa Schools Superintendent, said. "And regardless of what you believe, religion or ideology or who you vote for, can we just be kind to each other and our words and our actions?"
All board members voted in favor of the motion during a closed session.
