A North Carolina woman with a decades-long criminal record was accused of setting her pet pit bull on her neighbour.

Sheila Marie Hunter, 58, of Raleigh, ordered the animal to go after the man at the apartment complex where they both live following a dispute, according to a copy of a magistrate’s order filed in Wake County District Court.

Eli Santos Blanco suffered severe puncture wounds in Sunday’s attack, the order stated, and likely would have suffered far greater injuries if a bystander hadn’t fatally shot the dog.

“It’s a hard pain to explain,” Blanco told WNCN .

“At first, it was just OK, then she was ripping my tendons, muscles apart,” he detailed of the grisly mauling.
