RANKIN COUNTY — A Jackson man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after being convicted of felony evasion as a habitual offender, District Attorney Bubba Bramlett announced Thursday.

Justin Andre Sterling, 31, must serve the sentence day-for-day in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, without the possibility of early release or parole.

On Nov. 24, 2024, Richland police received information that a vehicle connected to an armed carjacking had entered the city on U.S. Highway 49 South. An officer located the SUV, alerted dispatchers and monitored the vehicle until backup arrived.
